GATE 2014 Frequently Asked Questions Sent to Me By E-mail BY IIT karaghPur

After sending the completed GATE-2014 application form to respective GATE zonal office, Track the Status of Your Application by logging on to the GATE Online Application Processing Site (GOAPS) using your enrollment ID and password.

If any mistakes or defects occurred during your application process, then note the following CAREFULLY and take appropriate action(s) before the deadline mentioned in the website:


1) If you have made the payment by net-banking, money is deducted from your account but PDF is not generated due to online transaction failure,

then, this money will be refunded automatically into your account within 7 days. Please pay the money again either by net-banking or by challan mode so that your application process can be completed.

2) If you have made the payment, generated  PDF  and BEFORE POSTING the same to GATE office realize that you have a made a mistake in any of the following fields:

               Name, Date of Birth and Address for Correspondence

then along with the GATE application form send a request letter with valid proof mentioning the correction(s) to be made in your GATE-2014 application.

3) If you have made the payment, generated the PDF and BEFORE POSTING the same to GATE office realize that you have a made a mistake in any of the following fields:

               Gender (male or female), Category (SC/ST or general/OBC)and PwD status

then along with the GATE application form send a request letter with valid proof mentioning the correction(s) to be made in your application, and make payment for the balance fee (i.e., when the gender is to be changed to female to male or when category has to be changed from SC/ST/PwD to general/OBC) in the form of a demand draft drawn in the name of IIT Kharagpur

4) If you have POSTED the printed application form to GATE office after making the necessary payments, and then realize that you have made mistake in any of the following fields:

               Name, Date of Birth, Eligibility (i.e., degree completed or not completed) and Address for Correspondence

then send a written request with valid proof mentioning the correction(s) to be made in your application along with a print-out of your GATE-2014 application form to GATE office for necessary corrections

5) If you have POSTED the printed application form to GATE office after making the necessary payments, and then realize that you have made mistake in gender (i.e., female to male):

then send a written application with valid proof mentioning the correction(s) to be made in gender to GATE office along with a print-out of your GATE-2014 application form and a Demand Draft for the balance application fee (if applicable) drawn in the name of IIT Kharagpur

6) If you have POSTED the printed application form to GATE office after making the necessary payments, and then realize that you have made mistake in category, i.e. you belong to SC/ST/PwD but declared yourself as general/OBC,

then send a written application with valid proof and certificates mentioning the correction(s) to be made in category along with a print-out of your GATE-2014 application form to GATE Office. If you are a PwD then you also have to mention whether you require the assistance of SCRIBE for taking the examination or not.

7) If you have declared yourself as SC/ST/PwD candidate but did not attach any valid caste/category certificate along with your GATE-2014 application form,

then you will receive a suitable defect message from GATE after scrutiny. The message will be sent to your e-mail address and can also be seen on GOAPS website. Once you receive the message, you will have to rectify the defect by sending the relevant documents either through speedpost or by uploading on GOAPS website. The defect message will disappear once the rectification done by you is found to be correct after scrutiny.

8) If you did not attach any valid eligibility certificate for degree completion or in the final year or with backlogs along with your GATE-2014 application form,

then you will receive a suitable defect message from GATE after scrutiny. The message will be sent to your e-mail address and can also be seen on GOAPS website. Once you receive the message, you will have to rectify the defect by sending the relevant documents either through post or by uploading them on GOAPS website. The defect message will disappear once the rectification done by you is found to be correct after scrutiny.

9) If during scrutiny, it is found that your photograph and/or signature is not as per specifications of GATE-2014,

then you will receive a suitable defect message from GATE after scrutiny. The message will be sent to your e-mail address and can also be seen on GOAPS website. Once you receive the message, you will have to rectify the defect by uploading correct photo/signature on GOAPS website. The defect message will disappear once the rectification done by you is found to be correct after scrutiny.

PLEASE NOTE THAT:

1) IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT YOUR APPLICATION IS A VALID GATE-2014 APPLICATION AND MEETS ALL THE SPECIFICATIONS AS MENTIONED IN THE GATE-2014 WEBSITE AND BROCHURE.

2) ANY CHANGE FOR GATE-2014 PAPER CANNOT BE ENTERTAINED AFTER YOU MADE THE PAYMENT AND GENERATED THE PRINT-OUT OF THE APPLICATION FORM

3) ALL REQUESTS FOR EXAMINATION CITY CHANGE CAN BE MADE AFTER THE SCRUTINY PROCESS BY PAYING THE RELEVANT CHARGES AS MENTIONED IN THE BROCHURE.
